Licks Using the Dorian Mode

Once again, when you are comfortable with the fingerings for the Dorian mode, practice each form using intervals and sequences and then try creating your own licks. The following three licks are derived from the C Dorian mode. Each lick is played over a minor seventh chord. The Dorian mode can also be used to play over minor, minor sixth and minor ninth chords.
