Major Seventh Chords

Another chord type you will need to know is the major seventh. The major seventh chord symbol is maj⁷. Here are some common open chord shapes for maj⁷ chords.

C Major Seventh Chord

Cmaj⁷

To play the Cmaj⁷ chord, use the second finger of your left hand as shown in the diagram. Strum all four strings.

Fmaj⁷

To play the Fmaj⁷ chord, use all four fingers of your left hand as shown in the diagram. Strum all four strings.

Gmaj⁷

To play the Gmaj⁷ chord, use the first finger of your left hand as shown in the diagram. Strum all four strings.
