INTRODUCTION

Lesson 2/17 | Study Time: 5 Min
INTRODUCTION

Progressive Music Theory for Young Beginners has been designed to introduce the younger student to the basics of music theory. The book is interactive, with the student frequently required to write names of notes, musical terms, etc. and also features quizzes half way through the book and again at the end.

Through the course of this book, the student is introduced to basic note and rest values, treble and bass clefs, the grand staff, ledger lines and the *, ^ and % time signatures. All new notes and terms are demonstrated in melodies which can be played or sung by the student. New pieces of information are highlighted by color boxes, and color illustrations are used throughout to stimulate and maintain the student's interest.
