Most chord formations are closely related to the five basic major chord shapes which are shown below. To remember the 5 shapes, think of the word CAGED.

Practice changing between all of these shapes – C to A, C to G, C to E, C to G, A to E, D to G etc. Practice them slowly with your metronome until you have them memorized and can instantly move from one chord to any other chord.
Here are some examples to help you get used to rhythm notation. Although you already know these chords, it is worth spending some time on them, as they become particularly important when learning to play chord shapes higher up on the fretboard.
