Learning scales may not seem as interesting as singing melodies, but a little effort at this stage will pay off later, regardless of which style of music you are learning. Write out the remaining major scales with the appropriate key signatures, using eighth notes as demonstrated next.
Memorize the notes of each scale and then try playing it on the keyboard and singing it. Once you know all the scales, you will be able to read music and learn songs in any key more easily, as well as being able to write your own melodies in any key. All twelve major scales are shown on pages 194-195, along with their key signatures. You should eventually learn all these from memory.
