Common Picking and Strumming Directions

Using many different rhythm figures often makes picking confusing. Eighth notes are usually easy enough, as the picking simply alternates. With sixteenth notes however, there are often problems. When picking and strumming 16th notes the general principle is to play a downstroke on any beat or any "+", but to use an upstroke on any "e" or "a". Here are some examples to practice.
