In this lesson each interval pattern has been given in one key only, but it is important to practice each of these sequences in all keys to ensure you have a thorough knowledge of intervals.
Depending on the key, you may not be able to get all of the notes, as some will be too low or too high depending on the register. Play each key in the most practical range and gradually expand the sequences to cover the entire range of the saxophone. Interval studies are the kind of thing that is important to practice every day, but only for a short time (e.g. 5 to 10 minutes per day). The better your knowledge of intervals is, the easier you will find it to transpose music. You will find it a lot easier to play the notes you hear in your mind when you are improvising if you have practiced all the intervals well, because all melodies are a series of intervals.
