Grace Notes and Principle Notes

Grace Note(s)

A grace note is played fractionally before a principle note and has no specific time value. Grace notes can be singular or come in groups of two or three. They are indicated by a smaller note(s) crossed with a diagonal line.

Principle Note

The principle note can be any type of note (¼, ¹/₈ etc.) that follows the grace note(s). Principle notes are played according to their time value. Here are three examples:
