Playing and Timing
The most important thing about playing percussion is being able to play with other people. If you see a percussionist or drummer in a band or orchestra, what they play works together with what the other musicians are doing and helps to make the music sound more interesting and exciting.
To play well with other musicians, you need to be able to play in time with them. A good way to practice this is to play all the songs in the book along with a metronome . Then you can hear how the percussion part fits in with the other instruments.
The Half Note
This is a half note. It lasts for two beats. There are two half notes in one bar of * time.
