Two Hits in a Row

Lesson 3/21 | Study Time: 5 Min
Two Hits in a Row

Two Hits in a Row

When you play any kind of drum, it is often necessary to play twice in a row with the same hand. For example, when a drummer plays a Rock beat on the drumkit, they play a constant stream of eighth notes on the cymbals with the right hand. This leaves the left hand free to play other parts of the drumkit such as the snare drum or the tom toms.

These are all shown in the photo in Lesson 10. To play the following songs, use your right hand on the larger drum and your left hand on the smaller drum. Sing the name of the hand you are using as you play (right right right right, left left, etc). Once again, remember to tap your right foot on each beat as you play.

Remember that everything you play on the larger drum is played with the right hand and everything you play on the smaller drum is played with the left hand. This song has the beat played by your foot written in as well as the notes played by your hands.
