The Bare Bones Blues Licks and Solo
The "Bare Bones Blues" utilizes only one beat of harmonica chord at the beginning of each guitar chord of a twelve bar blues chord structure. It is composed of far more silence than of sound, and thus requires great attention to timing.
The last bar of these twelve has an unusual use of timing, with the first and last beat of the bar silence. Practice it beforehand, in the form of Lick 4a.
- At this point in the recording, a "Play-Along" section has been included for your playing enjoyment. This "Play-Along" section consists of four medium-fast blues verses in Cross or Second Position (key of G). You may play any of the Cross or Second position solos from this book or Progressive Blues Harmonica during this section, or experiment with making up Cross position solos of your own.
