As in Exercises 13 and 18, these Licks 32a through 32f and the solo that they compose will provide useful preparation for learning to create solos from the Blues Scale. However, the entire Blues Scale may not be used until the technique of bending notes has been mastered.
In Solo Exercise 32, two variations of the twelve bar blues verse composed from the above licks are presented. In the first, Lick 32a is used to end the verse. In the second verse, a slide from the 3i to 1i replaces the 2i to provide a more emphatic finale to the verse.
Note: In the second verse of Solo No.32, a variation is presented in the final bar, to produce a sense of completion for the solo, as follows.
