Am
The root 5 minor chord shape is based upon the open A minor (Am) chord shape.
The following diagrams show three of the root 5 minor chord shapes used in the following chord progressions.
The following chord progression uses a mixture of root 6 and root 5 chord shapes.
The next two chord progressions use a "Reggae" rhythm. Whereas Rock rhythms place the emphasis on the first and third beats, Reggae rhythms place the emphasis on the second and fourth beats. Practice each chord progression and rhythm pattern separately at first, then combine them once you are confident playing both.
Although single coil pickups make a great sound, they can also produce unwanted noise known as hum. In the 1950’s, guitar makers discovered that if you put two single coil pickups together, the second one cancels the "hum", as well as producing a "fatter", warmer sound. Thus the humbucking pickup (Hum-bucker) was born. These pickups are traditionally associated with Gibson guitars such as the Les Paul and the 335.
