The Tension Mounts
The tension mounts are connected to the drum shell, and act as anchors for the tension rods. The tension mounts are usually made of chrome plated metal alloy, and consist of several parts. Inside the tension mount there is a threaded sleeve which can be easily replaced if you are unfortunate enough to strip or damage a thread. This is usually held in position by a small spring. The tension mount is usually fastened to the drum shell by two screws.
