The Tension Rods
Tension Rods are really just chrome plated steel bolts, which pass through the counter hoop into the tension mounts, When the tension rods are tightened, the head is pulled down hard over the drum shell. Tension rods should have a steel washer between the counter hoop and the head of the tension rod, this will help prevent scratching the hoop during tuning.
The Tension Rods
Tension Rods for the bass drum are also like chrome plated bolts, but they are usually“T” shaped so they can be adjusted by hand without the use of a drum key. The bass drum tension rod has a washer and a claw shaped clamp which hooks over the bass drum hoop. when the tension rods are tightened, the head is pulled down hard over the drum shell.
