Fingerstyle Playing with Dampened Strings

Lesson 21/40 | Study Time: 5 Min
Fingerstyle Playing with Dampened Strings

Fingerstyle Playing with Dampened Strings

On page 15 you are introduced to right hand dampening for playing with the pick. The right hand can also be used for dampening strings with finger style playing. To do this place your right hand little finger across the strings near the bridge (as shown in the photo).

When you play the notes with your other right hand fingers you may have to increase the bass boost to get the right effect. This style of playing is often used by reggae players.

Use the above dampening technique for Lick 42.
