Slapping Wood Technique (indicated <span class="symbolA">d</span>)

Lesson 31/40 | Study Time: 5 Min
Slapping Wood Technique (indicated <span class="symbolA">d</span>)

Slapping Wood Technique (indicated d)

Another percussive style of playing using the right hand is called the slapping wood technique. With your right hand fingers extended, strike the E and A strings simultaneously and firmly with the top section of your fingers (see diagram).

Let your right hand bounce off the strings as your thumb would using the slap technique. Use the slapping wood technique (d) in Licks 99 and 100 below which also use power chords, slides and slapping.

Lick 100 also includes hammer-ons and ends on a strummed chord.

Lick 101 is played with the thumb slapping the power chords.
