The following licks combine hammer-ons with open strings resulting in speed metal licks.
To play Lick 43 pick the open D string and hammer-on the octave note at the 12th fret (of the same string) using your third finger of your left hand.
Lick 45 is a combination of 44 and an extra hammer-on note before the octave.
Lick 46 is the same as Lick 45 except the triplet is played an eighth note earlier. Listen to the tape or use your metronome or drum machine to hear the difference.
Play this lick on the G and A strings as well.
Lick 47 uses the same hammer-on technique and open string combination, but the hammer-on notes are changing.
Lick 49 uses the same open string technique as Licks 47 and 48.
Play the previous 2 licks on different strings (i.e. transpose them).
