In the previous lessons, you have only played chords with your right hand, Chords can also be played with the left hand, particularly if you wish to play the melody of a song with the right hand (instead of singing the melody)
All the chord notes, shapes and inversions you have so far learned can be easily played with the left hand by moving them down one or more octaves. The only thing that changes is the fingering used (because you are now playing with the left hand).
The following exercise uses the previous turnaround progression (G Em C D), but plays the chords in the left hand. This exercise is in the key of G.
Use the fingering given for the left hand chords. You will notice that the fingering is a mirror image of the right hand fingering.
We can now add a melody in the right hand. You can also make up your own melody using notes from the G major scale. You will find this chord progression easy to add your own melodies to (improvise).
