Arpeggios

Lesson 4/53 | Study Time: 5 Min
Arpeggios

Arpeggios

All of the chords discussed on the opposite page are used in Blues, but the seventh chord is particularly important in lead playing, especially when it is used as an arpeggio. An arpeggio is a chord played one note at a time. A C seventh arpeggio is shown next. In this example the arpeggio is shown along one string. Like any scale, it is helpful to learn arpeggios along one string.

As with scales, there are five different positions for playing arpeggios across the neck, which follow the five chord forms. Here is the E form of a C seventh arpeggio.

Note: All fingerings in this book are suggestions only. Feel free to use any other fingerings if you find them more comfortable or practical.
