The two handed tapping technique is frequently used for special feature lines which can not be played in other ways, e.g., the range of notes without shifts. No notes are picked by the right hand. The sound of tapping is entirely created by the fingers of either hand hitting the string firmly against the fretboard. To produce a good sustained sound this action needs to be executed quite accurately and may require some diligent. As tapping is a specialised technique it should only be used in an appropriate musical situation such as a bass feature. It is particularly useful for arpeggio playing, chords etc. as well as for high speed performance.
