The following exercise uses a syncopated reggae style rhythm involving the use of right hand deadening on the first and third beats (see Lesson 7 ). You should practice this strum pattern separately, using one chord, before combining it with the progression.
This arrangement of House of the Rising Sun introduces the B note (e.g., bar 4), located at the 7th fret of the first string. Observe the fingering as marked.

This arrangement uses the melody line given in Lesson 17 , together with a chord accompaniment and bass line. It is the most difficult arrangement so far presented; you should analyze each bar separately, carefully observing the new chord shapes and fingerings.
