Strumming

The first type of strum used in this book is the down-strum. The right hand strikes across the strings in a downward motion from the sixth string to the first string.

A down-strum will be indicated by a downward pointing arrow as shown below. For the first example, an A Major chord is fingered with the left hand as the right hand strums four down-strums.
