Left Hand Fingering

Lesson 5/52 | Study Time: 5 Min
Left Hand Fingering

Left Hand Fingering

The suggested left hand fingering is shown below the tab. The fingers are numbered the same as mentioned earlier in Lesson 2.

The first note (1st string, 1st fret) is played with the first finger.

The second note (1st string, 2nd fret) is played with the second finger.

The third note (1st string, 3rd fret) is played with the third finger.

The fourth note (1st string, 4th fret) is played with the fourth finger.

Below is an example of a basic rock riff and how it will be represented in tablature form. The tablature shows that the open 5th string is played four times for the duration of the 1st bar, the 2nd fret of the 5th is played for the 2nd bar, the 3rd fret of the 5th string is played for the 3rd bar and the open string is used once more for the final bar.
