Most movable chord formations are closely related to the five basic major chord shapes which as shown:
C
A
G
E
D
You probably already know these chords. Here is an example using all five shapes to refresh your memory. The unshaded arrowheads in the Easy Read notation indicate half note strums.
Each of these shapes can be made into movable chords by using a bar with the first finger. (For more on bar chords, see Progressive Rock Guitar Technique ). The following diagram is a C chord along with a movable C form bar chord. The root notes in the C form chord are located on the 5th and 2nd strings. Use this chord form to play the F and G chords in example 60.

Following the same process, it should be easy to see the relationship between the A chord and the A form bar chord. This time the root notes are on the 5th and 3rd strings. Use the A form bar chord for the C and D chords in example 61.
