As mentioned previously, any chord type can be arranged into inversions. Like major chords, minor chords have three possible inversions named according to the lowest note.
The following diagrams show a C minor triad (notes C, E and G) in root position, first inversion and second inversion on four sets of strings. As always, each one can be used to play twelve different minor chords, built from each note of the chromatic scale (see Section 4).
Like major chords, it is possible to create open voicings from minor chord inversions by moving the middle note up an octave. Shown in the following diagram are three open voicings of a Cm chord at the 5th position (fret). These are all within the basic G form of a C minor chord
