Scale Tone Chords Along The Strings

A useful way to practice scale tone chords is to practice them along a particular group of strings, keeping the same inversion for each chord. The following example demonstrates the C major scale tone triads played in root position along the 3rd, 4th and 5th strings.

Here are the same chords as arpeggios played up an octave on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd strings.

This time the chords are in first inversion on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings. The inversion you choose largely depends on which note you want at the top of the chord.
