Lesson 2/57 | Study Time: 5 Min
Course: Metal Guitar
Metal Guitar Solos

Metal Guitar Solos

The final lesson features three Metal guitar solos which use all the lead guitar techniques discussed throughout the previous lessons.

Metal Guitar Solo No. 1

The first solo is a relatively simple solo played over a sixteen bar Metal progression in the key of A. Solo No. 1 is played over a Metal progression which features different power chords and important rhythm points studied in the earlier lessons. The lead guitar part uses techniques mainly from lessons six and seven such as the hammer-on, pull-off, slide, bend, muting and vibrato. This solo is played within the minor pentatonic scale and the minor pentatonic scale extension.

Metal Guitar Solo No. 2

This lead guitar part is in the E position. Both minor scales studied in lesson 7 are featured; the Natural Minor scale and the Harmonic Minor scale. This solo also uses a variety of rhythms including sixteenth notes and quarter note triplets. Techniques learned in lesson seven and eight are featured in this solo including pick tremolo, open string slurs, harmonics and the rake.

Metal Guitar Solo No. 3

This lead guitar solo is in the A position and uses all three minor scales discussed in this book. A variety of rhythms and techniques are also featured in this solo. It also makes use of the tapping and whammy bar techniques studied in the previous lesson.
