Most activities involving our hands (e.g. catching a ball or holding a knife and fork) use the whole hand rather than individual finger movements. However, playing musical instruments requires a variety of specific actions from individual fingers. It takes quite a bit of training before the fingers become reliably accurate every time you play. When training the hands and fingers, it is best to separate them wherever possible, and zero in on the exact movement you are trying to perfect. In this lesson you will learn some examples which use essential movements for both the left and right hands.
