A major 7th chord is created by adding a 7th degree to any major chord. E.g. a Cmaj7 chord contains the notes C, E, G and B (1, 3, 5 and 7 degrees). Here are three common moveable major 7th chord shapes.
As you add more notes to chords, the number of possible combinations of these notes (and therefore chord shapes) increases dramatically.
