Congratulations on finishing the book. By now your playing should be sounding very good. Remember that chords, scales, arpeggios and techniques are just the tools for making music. The best way to make your playing sound more musical is to transcribe solos by players you admire and then use them as models for your own improvising. Transcribe several different players and write your own solos in their styles. Then use your composed solos as a starting point for improvising in that style. The aim is not to become a clone, but to understand the player's style and use elements of it as part of your own style.
To finish things off, here are some solos to challenge you. The first is in the style of Wes Montgomery - one of the all time great Jazz guitarists. Notice the use of octaves here. This was one of Wes1 trademarks and since then it has become a standard way of soloing on the guitar. Happy Playing!
