A triplet is a group of three notes played in the same time as two notes of the same kind. In the following study, eighth note triplets are introduced, which are indicated thus:
These eighth note triplets are played in the same time as two eighth notes (i.e. 1 beat), and are counted as such:
It can be seen from these examples above that each note is worth 1/2 of a beat.
The triplet indication, i—3—i , can be written either above or below the note group.
