Having thoroughly studied the previous piece using the 4th position Bar throughout, it is now possible to play it in virtually every key by shifting the Bar up or down the fingerboard. Even the key of C can be used (Ex. 3) by thinking of the Bar finger as the nut of the guitar and using 2, 3 and 4 as the moving fingers. Only the keys of Bt (AH) and B present a problem, by virtue of the fact that it is not really feasible to Bar frets 11 and 12 because of the obstruction caused by the upper bout of the guitar body. The following exercises demonstrate the previous piece in the second position (key of D and Bm), fifth position (key of F and Dm) and the open position (key of C and Am) where the Bar finger is substituted by the nut.
