The following Renaissance Dance (Renaissance meaning the 14th - 16th century revival of arts and music) demonstrates playing above the 12th fret, in this case the 14th position, almost repeating that which has been played in the 2nd position. The repeated open bass notes (called pedals), along with the first finger guide from F#II - F#XIV facilitates this long distance shift. The piece also includes extensive ligados, as well as single and chordal natural harmonics.
